Abstract
Purpose: To obtain the information can be used in clinical practice of cosmetic color contact lenses, we have select a random color contact lens which circulated in a country and analyze physiochemical properties of color contact lenses through a state of lens surface, the presence of dye and oxygen permeability of central and peripheral portions.

Methods: We have taken a random sample with 0.00 diopter and tinted cosmetic contact lens which is tinted iris with clear peripheral annulus and clear center for test and measured the elution of dye with the standard KFDA and oxygen permeability with ISO-9913-1 and surface roughness of lens using the SEM.

Results: 5 of 24 types cosmetic color contact lenses were not matched the standard in deoxidant of potassium permanganate from the elution experiment of dye. 6 type lenses in 24 types has the low oxygen permeability in the peripheral part. Only 3 type lenses satisfied the condition that did not induce corneal edema. From surface roughness experiment, manufactures have the different painting methods. The painting methods are printing, anterior surface in printing, posterior surface in printing, sandwich method and surface roughness has below several §.

Conslusions: To prevent the side effect with oxygen permeability, the improvement of manufacture methods and material is needed. When we prescribe and dispense the contact lens, we must to educate wearer for appropriate usage and care system of cosmetic color contact lens. The further studies were needed to show whether the elution and surface roughness of contact lens occur the side effect or not during wear the contact lens.
